Workshops

Let us help you make more of an impact in your public outreach and climate actions. We offer live or virtual workshops on behavior change for climate action for nonprofits, climate professionals, educators, and students. The Center for Behavior and Climate can also provide diverse workshops and webinars custom-tailored to your needs.

To date, we have trained nearly 1000 people, 20 nonprofits, and a government agency with workshops connecting behavior change to collective action, individual action, marine conservation, climate policy, advocacy, climate adaptation, and climate adaptation for health.

We are now pleased to offer a comprehensive workshop on collective and individual action, described below.

Behavior Change for
Climate Action Workshop

The Problem:We need to rapidly move the needle on climate action this decade. HOW do we motivate the public to act now?

The Solution:Behavioral science points the way to changing peoples' behavior. Learn how to apply behavior change principles to get people to change their actions. Accelerate both collective and individual action.

 Who should attend

All climate/sustainability professionals and students who want to increase pro-environmental behaviors to drive climate action.

What You'll Learn

  • practical skills and resources to increase the success of your climate campaigns and projects;
  • proven behavioral science tools (such as prompts, social norms, etc.);
  • evidence-based theories of collective and individual action, and what motivates people to care about the environment and to act.

Testimonials

This course offered great insight and strategies for connecting with people in a way that resonates, is personally relevant, and inspires behavior change and climate action.

Midge I, Executive Director, Grassroots Non-Profit Organization

 The Center for Behavior and Climate workshop helped us rethink the language we used in our climate change education project to have the greatest possible impact. Using scientific research and expertise from Caroly and her team helped us reframe how we are providing hope and encouraging action to mitigate climate impacts. I highly recommend this workshop for anyone working in the field.

I am certain that your "lessons" fell on fertile ground. We will want to consult these ideas - for example - words to use with conservatives versus liberal - again and again!! Thank you so  much. Thank you so much for giving me and others some more useful ammunition to motivate others to act on climate!

Barbara W., Citizens Climate Lobby

The workshop was eye-opening because it shows ways to expand our work beyond our personal point of view on issues of community debate.

 The workshop was wonderful and I’m grateful to have our group benefit from best practice climate action.

 I like how you started with Collective Action – I really think this is where the movement is going for climate action so this was new to me!

 I’ve had some training in both behavior change and climate communications through my job as a fisheries biologist but this was the first time I’ve seen them both put together in one setting – that was VERY useful!

Why Focus on Behavior Change?

Behavior change is one of the key drivers for the systemic change we need to fix the climate crisis. Individual and collective actions provide the scaffolding needed to effect societal change and put pressure on government and businesses.
